Just as all the words in the dictionary are made up of letters of the alphabet, so may the Tarot cards, Astrology Charts, I Ching, etc., be arranged to form a limitless number of "words" in their own language of pictorial symbolism.

To those who know how to read such a language, a translation inclusive of all the meaningful and relevant parts (setting, plot, conflict and resolution) weaves a story worthy of consideration.

Archetypes

Jung suggested in his book, The Structure of the Psyche, that the number of existing archetypes is a way to understand the development of the human Psyche. This knowledge could offer insight for healing said Psyche through the power of myth and storytelling. A few of the various archetypes that Jung described: Persona, Self, Shadow, Animus, Anima, Father, Mother, Child, Wise old man, Hero, Maiden, and Trickster.

Archetypal Patterns

As Caroline Myss states, predefined patterns of behavior are fulfilled with four shared archetypes with all of humanity. Your individual Sacred Contract™ holds your archetypal psyche — the agreement your spirit makes before inhabiting the human world.

Ascendant

The point in the sky of the Eastern horizon. In the chart, the Ascendant is represented by the horizontal line at the left hand side of the chart which crosses between the Twelfth and First Houses. The sign on the Ascendant is also referred to as the Rising Sign.

Aspects

When the relative positions of two planets in the horoscope form a significant angle with each other, they are said to be in aspect with one another. The type and quality of the aspect is determined by the number of degrees between the two planets and is only considered significant if it is within a narrow range of degrees, or orb. A list of the aspects used in C&S reports is given below.

Conjunction — 0 +/- 8 degrees

Opposition — 180 +/- 8 degrees

Trine — 120 +/- 8 degrees

Square — 90 +/- 8 degrees

Sextile — 60 +/- 6 degrees

Inconjunct — 150 +/- 4 degrees

Astrology

Astrology is the creation, study and interpretation of a horoscope toward a life with one’s Self as Agent.

Chakras, The

Caroline Myss, "The body contains seven energy centers, known as chakras. Together, these energy centers — data banks, as I like to call them — are an archetypal depiction of your individual maturation through seven distinct stages." Advanced Energy Anatomy, 2001.

Chart Comparison

An astrological technique in which the planets of two individuals are shown in a bi-wheel chart, one within the other. This allows the inter-aspects between the two charts to be examined.

Composite Chart

An astrological technique in which the midpoints of two individuals' planetary positions are used to create a third chart, the composite chart, which is then interpreted as the chart of the relationship itself as an independent entity.

Divine, The

Your spiritual connection, whether it be to God, Buddha, Jesus Christ, Allah or a lifestyle such as 3HO.

Divination

“Its proper application is to the solution of serious questions, for yourself or others.” Paul Foster Case, The Taro, page 213. (B.O.T.A.)

Diviner

A person intentionally using their intuition follows a systematic method with which to commune with the Divine expressly toward a solution of serious questions, for them-self or others. Particular divination methods vary by culture and religion.

Energy Medicine

A broad range of approaches for healing that center around the human energy system, including the science of intuition. (Caroline Myss)

Energy System, Human

Quantum physics defines this as an electromagnetic field in and around the body which is generated by the body’s biological processes. An easy way to explore the human energy system is to use the chakra model.

Horoscope

Originally horoscope referred to the astrological chart itself, but is now popularly used to refer to the description of how current planetary positions are affecting you personally, as in "your monthly horoscope."

A diviner or artificial intelligence will apply an individual's moment of their birth (date, year, and hour and minute) to a formula using math, geography and science to create a horoscope. The diviner will study and interpret the horoscope to answer serious questions for themselves or others.

Intuition

The skill of interpreting the language of human energy toward a life with one’s Self as Agent.

NOTE: Contrary to popular belief that strong intuitive abilities are a gift, Kathryn Mitchell believes intuition is a developed learned skill that is based primarily on a fully developed self-esteem/self-determination/Self as Agent.

Midheaven

The point in the sky directly overhead relative to the position on Earth. In the chart, the Midheaven is represented by the vertical line at the top of the chart between the Ninth and Tenth Houses.

Natal

From Latin, meaning of or pertaining to birth; therefore your birth chart, or planetary positions at birth.

Nodes

The Lunar Nodes are the two points where the Moon's orbital path crosses the plane of the ecliptic (the plane of the Earth's orbit around the Sun). Symbolically they represent talents and life path, or destiny.

Planets

In astrology, the word planets is used to describe astrologically significant points in the sky which includes the Sun and Moon, as well as many objects that are not currently astronomically defined as planets such as Chiron and Pluto.

Self as Agent (American Psychological Association definition)

  1. the self that has goals, plans, and control over voluntary actions. Gordon W. Allport and others considered this term to be similar in meaning to the “I” in the thought of William James (see nominative self). See also self as observer.
  2. the aspect of the self that has agency and plays a role in a psychic process. In this sense, the term is closer to James’s “me” (see empirical self).

Stories are powerful

As stated by Condren, there are consequences of decisions taken toward the treatment of women in myth, church, history and politics in Ireland from pre-Christian, early Christian and late medieval Ireland on contemporary life. The Serpent and the Goddess: Women, Religion, and Power in Celtic Ireland, San Francisco: Harper & Row, 1989: Dublin: New Island Books, 2002.

Symbolic Sight

As stated by Caroline Myss, Symbolic Sight is a way of seeing and understanding yourself, other people, and life events in terms of universal archetypal patterns. Developing symbolic sight enhances your intuitive ability as it allows you to view events, people and challenges in an objective light.

Synchronicity

Referencing a Jungian (website) viewpoint, synchronicities are meaningful coincidences; they are events that seemingly have no causal relationship, but are in fact related. On an energetic level, you attract synchronicities into your life, such as when you are seeking guidance. Use symbolic sight to uncover the significance and meaning of your synchronicities.

Tarot

Any cohesive set of manipulative objects (cards, dice, rocks) numbering 21-80 in number using icons, symbols, colors, and archetypes to convey unique elements of the human experience.

Transits

Aspects formed between the current positions of the planets and the positions of your natal planets at the time and place you were born.

Tribe, Tribal

Any group which you are a part of: familial, work, social, ethnic, etc. Speaking from a Myss viewpoint, (website) the tribal or ‘group’ mind has been called the lowest form of consciousness because group members frequently have difficulty accepting responsibility for their personal role and actions — they defer to the group’s patterns. Issues related to the tribe most often manifest in the first chakra.
